Wenn die Orgel mit der Violine spricht
Die eher seltene Kombination von Orgel und Violine hat nicht nur im Barock, sondern auch im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert Adepten gekannt. So hat Henri Marteau (1874-1934) mit seiner Fantasie für Orgel und Violine op. 27 ein Werk in dieser Gattung geschaffen. Sie wird vom Violinisten Ingolf Turban und dem Organisten Edgar Krapp zu dessen 75. Geburtstag bei Solo Musica herausgebracht. Weiter stehen Orgelwerke von Philipp Wolfrum, Max Reger und abschließend Karl Höllers Fantasie für Violine und Orgel auf dem Programm. Der Dialog Violine-Orgel funktioniert sehr gut, und die klangliche Balance ist hervorragend. – The rather rare combination of organ and violin has known adepts not only in the Baroque but also in the 19th and 20th centuries. Henri Marteau (1874-1934), for example, created a work in this genre with his Fantasy for Organ and Violin op. 27. It has been recorded on Solo Musica by violinist Ingolf Turban and organist Edgar Krapp for his 75th birthday. The program also includes organ works by Philipp Wolfrum, Max Reger as well as Karl Höller’s Fantasy for Violin and Organ. Reinhoud van Mechelen in alten Liedern
Mit Kompositionen u.a. von Ballard, Marais, Hotteterre, de Visée und Couperin hat der Haute-Contre (Hoher Tenor) Reinoud van Mechelen ein Programm zusammengestellt, das er mit dem Ensemble A Nocte Temporis aufführt. Es sind teils sehr zärtliche Lieder, aber auch herzhafte Trinklieder, die der affektvoll begleitete van Mechelen einfühlsam und stilvoll singt. – With compositions by Ballard, Marais, Hotteterre, de Visée and Couperin, among others, the haute-contre (high tenor) Reinoud van Mechelen has put together a program that he performs with the ensemble A Nocte Temporis. These are partly very tender songs, but also hearty drinking songs, which the affectively accompanied van Mechelen sings sensitively and stylishly. (Alpha 833) – ♪♪♪♪

Das Chorwerk Ruhr stellt auf einer CD von Coviello Musikalische Exequien von Heinrich Schütz der Musik des 1949 geborenen Nikolaus Brass gegenüber. Das ergibt ungewöhnliche Kontraste zwischen Frühbarock und heutiger Avantgarde. Beiden Komponisten lassen die Interpreten unter der Leitung von Florian Helgath höchste Sorgfalt angedeihen, so dass in jeder Hinsicht eine schöne, ausgewogene Darstellung zustande kommt. – On a CD from Coviello, Chorwerk Ruhr juxtaposes Musikalische Exequien by Heinrich Schütz with the music of Nikolaus Brass, born in 1949. This results in unusual contrasts between early baroque and today’s avant-garde. Kontrastreicher Schubert
Die Violinistin Viktoria Mullova und der Fortepianist Alasdair Beatson spielen Schuberts Sonate D 574 sehr prägnant, spontan und kraftvoll. Sie suchen dabei mehr nach Kontrasten als nach Lyrik und Poesie. Manchmal klingt Mullovas Geige sogar unangenehm scharf. Auch in der Fantasie D 934 und im Rondo D 895 gelingt es den beiden nicht, mich auf ihre Seite zu ziehen. – Violinist Viktoria Mullova and fortepianist Alasdair Beatson play Schubert’s Sonata D 574 very concisely, spontaneously and powerfully. They seek contrasts more than lyricism and poetry. Sometimes Mullova’s violin even sounds unpleasantly sharp. In the Fantasie D 934 and the Rondo D 895, the two also fail to win me over to their side. (Signum SIGCD706) – ♪♪
Eine fantastische Reise durch Spanien
Unter der musikalischen Leitung von Nino Laisné haben der Sänger François Chaignaud (falsettierend und mit normaler Stimme), der Bandoneonist Jean-Baptiste Henry, Daniel Zapico, Gitarre und Theorbe, François Joubert, Viola da gamba, und Pere Olivé, Schlagzeug, ein Programm unter dem Titel Romances inciertos aufgenommen, das auf der choreographierten Show beruht, mit der sie seit 2017 durch die Welt reisen. Zu hören sind u.a. eine Zarzuela-Melodie von José de Nebra, ein Marsch aus den Prozessionen der Karwoche, ein sephardisches Klagelied und spanische Volksmusik, Copla andaluza, sowie Romanzen. Das ist alles abwechslungsreich und wird anspruchsvoll dargeboten. Chaignaud singt sich virtuos und darstellerisch eindringlich durch diese fantastische Vielfalt und die musikalischen Intermezzi bereichern das Ganze mit emphatischer Geste. – Under the musical direction of Nino Laisné, the singer François Chaignaud (falsetto and normal voice), the bandoneonist Jean-Baptiste Henry, Daniel Zapico, guitar and theorbo, François Joubert, viola da gamba, and Pere Olivé, percussion recorded a program titled Romances inciertos, based on the choreographed show they have been traveling the world with since 2017. You can hear, among others, a zarzuela melody by José de Nebra, a march from the processions of Holy Week, a Sephardic lament and Spanish folk music, Copla andaluza, as well as romances. It’s all varied and ambitiously performed.
