A series of outstanding events in Los Angeles feature Gustavo Dudamel, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Yo-Yo Ma, Leif Ove Andsnes and Julie Andrews for the celebration of the Walt Disney Concert Hall’s 10th anniversary. The venue designed by Frank Gehry opened to the public in 2003.
The Los Angeles Philharmonic’s anniversary concerts will take place during September, October and November. They will include an Opening Night Gala with Yo-Yo Ma (Sept 30); a free Open House concert with the LA Phil performing alongside Youth Orchestra LA as well as three free community performances of Prokofiev’s ‘Peter and the Wolf’ narrated by Julie Andrews (Sept 25, 26, 28).
The LA Phil has also launched two new digital ventures: WDCH10, an online exploration of Walt Disney Concert Hall, including performance highlights, interactive videos, architectural information and interviews with conductors and soloists; and Concert Master, which enables those who are less familiar with classical music to choose a concert based on lifestyle and entertainment preferences.
