Chinese-American conductor Lan Shui, 59, has announced today, that he will quit his job as Music Director of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra in January 2019, after the orchestra’s 40th anniversary. He is Music Director of the orchestra since 1997. The Straits Times reports that Shui wants to spend more time with his wife and two sons, aged 11 and eight months.
Lan Shui also held the position of Chief Conductor of the Copenhagen Phil from 2007 to 2015 and undertook a four-year period as Artistic Advisor of the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra concluding in 2014.
