Die französische Pianistin Yvonne Lefébure (1898-1986) wird von Profil mit einer Fünfer-Box geehrt. Die Schülerin von Marguerite Long und Alfred Cortot trat unter Dirigenten wie Adrian Boult oder Wilhelm Furtwängler auf und musizierte mit dem Quatuor Parrenin und Solisten wie Sandor Vegh, Peter Pears oder Pablo Casals, an dessen Festivals von Prades und Perpignan sie regelmäßig teilnahm. Eine wichtige Aktivität war das Unterrichten. Zu ihren Schülern zählten u.a. Imogen Cooper, Samson François und Dinu Lipatti. Aufgenommen hat sie relativ wenig, und die wichtigsten ihrer Einspielungen sind in dieser Profil-Box enthalten. Obwohl eine CD der französischen Musik vorbehalten ist, liegt der Schwerpunkt auf Beethovens Musik, zu der sie eine sehr enge Beziehung hatte und die sie mit der für sie typischen Begeisterung und Leidenschaft spielte. Aber auch als Bach- und Mozart-Interpretin kann sie beeindrucken. Und so ist diese Box mit zum Teil auch sehr erstaunlichen Dokumenten wie Debussys Boîte à Joujoux eine willkommene Hommage an diese legendäre Pianistin.

A pupil of Marguerite Long and Alfred Cortot, she performed under conductors such as Adrian Boult or Wilhelm Furtwängler and made music with the Quatuor Parrenin and soloists such as Sandor Vegh, Peter Pears or Pablo Casals, in whose festivals of Prades and Perpignan she regularly participated. An important activity was teaching. Among her students were Imogen Cooper, Samson François and Dinu Lipatti. She recorded relatively little, and the most important of her recordings are included in this Profil box. Although one CD is reserved for French music, the emphasis is on Beethoven’s music, with which she had a very close relationship and which she played with typical enthusiasm and passion.
But she can also impress as a Bach and Mozart interpreter. And so this box with partly also very astonishing documents like Debussy’s Boîte à Joujoux is a welcome tribute to this legendary pianist.
