German pianist and conductor Lars Vogt, 49, has been appointed as Music Director of the Orchestre de chambre de Paris, replacing Douglas Boyd, according to a press release of the City of Paris. His contract runs for three years, through the 2022/23 season.
The press release states that over the past five years, « the Orchestre de chambre de Paris has undergone a major renewal, becoming the youngest orchestra in Paris, with equal representation ».
Vogt is currently Music Director of the Royal Northern Sinfonia in Great Britain and Artistic Director of the chamber music festival Spannungen in Heimbach/Germany, which he founded in 1998.
In 2012, Lars Vogt was appointed to succeed his late teacher, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, in the chair of piano professor at the University of Music, Drama and Media in Hannover.
