Greek Violinist Leonidas Kavakos (48) has been announced as the winner of the Léonie Sonning Music Prize 2017, worth DKK 600,000 (€80,000). The award is Denmark’s highest musical honour and is awarded annually to an internationally recognised composer, instrumentalist, conductor or singer. Kavakos will receive his award at a concert on 12 January 2017 in Copenhagen.
