Das Thüringer Bach Collegium spielt Locatelli auf historischen Instrumenten. Die Musiker geben sich unendlich viel Mühe, Locatellis reiche Palette von Ausdrucksformen in den Introduttioni teatrali mit hinreißender Ausdruckskraft und Gestaltungsphantasie auch wirklich theatralisch werden zu lassen.
Der Vortrag ist durchgehend frisch, einfallsreich, klar phrasiert und spontan. So wird die kräftige, robuste Geste genauso gepflegt wie die melancholische Seite, um dadurch den klanglichen Reichtum der Werke hervor zu streichen, die in puncto Konstruktion, Ablauf, Harmonik und Rhythmik für die damalige Zeit revolutionär waren. Zum besonderen Genuss wird das Achte Concerto, A imitazione de corni di caccia.
Das mit voller Konzentration musizierende Orchester präsentiert mit dieser auch aufnahmetechnisch hervorragenden CD ein überzeugendes Plädoyer für den Komponisten.
The Thuringian Bach Collegium performs Locatelli on period instruments. In the ravishing Introduttioni teatrali the musicians take great care of Locatelli’s rich palette of expressions and let the music become truly theatrical.
The performance is consistently fresh, inventive, clearly phrased and spontaneous. Thus, the vigorous, robust gesture is treated as much as the melancholy side, thereby bringing out the tonal richness of the works, which were revolutionary for the time in terms of construction, progression, harmony and rhythm. The Eighth Concerto, A imitazione de corni di caccia, becomes a special treat.
The orchestra, playing with full concentration, presents a convincing plea for the composer with this CD, which is also outstanding in terms of recording quality.
