The Los Angeles Philharmonic has announced the postponement and cancellation of its concerts through the weekend. Music Director Gustavo Dudamel – who is currently being criticized for touring with the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra, which has fallen into disrepute as a propaganda tool of the Maduro regime – has expressed his compassion with those affected by the fires.
Violinist Anne Akiko Meyers has withdrawn from her scheduled performances with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra (CSO) due to the wildfires currently raging across her hometown of Los Angeles. The concerts will still take place as scheduled, with violinist Rachel Barton Pine stepping in. ‘Anne Akiko Meyers, her family, and all those impacted by the devastating wildfires will remain in our thoughts,’ the CSO published on its website.
