Der 30-jährige Italiener Luca Lione hat seiner Biographie zufolge eine besondere Liebe zum romantischen Repertoire entwickelt. Kein Wunder also, dass er diese CD ganz Robert Schuman widmet, mit einem anspruchsvollen Programm.

Dort wo Lang Lang mit plakativen Effekten und nutzloser Virtuosität agiert, stellt sich Lione hinter die Musik, mit einem sehr engagierten, aber im Grunde natürlichen Spiel, das ein ebenso natürliches Verhältnis zu Schumanns Musik deutlich macht. Mit kluger Phrasierung und viel Sensibilität geht er diese vielschichtige Musik an und gibt jedem Werk sein Profil und seine Persönlichkeit. Die Humoreske wird in ihrer ganzen Komplexität ausgelotet und einerseits brillant, andererseits sehr poetisch gespielt.

Dieser Ansatz greift auch in der Zweiten Sonate mit virtuosen Ecksätzen, einem tänzerischen Scherzo und einem schön formulierten langsamen Satz. Und überall zeigt Lione auch, dass er aus dem Land des Gesangs kommt!

According to his biography, the 30-year-old Italian Luca Lione has developed a special love for the romantic repertoire. No wonder, then, that he dedicates this CD entirely to Robert Schuman, with a demanding program.
Where Lang Lang acts with striking effects and useless virtuosity, Lione stands behind the music, with one very committed but basically natural playing that shows an equally natural relationship to Schumann’s music. He approaches this multi-layered music with ingenious phrasing and great sensitivity, giving each work its profile and personality. The Humoreske is explored in all its complexity and played brilliantly on the one hand, and very poetically on the other.
This approach also works in the Second Sonata, with virtuosic first and last movements, a dance-like scherzo and a beautifully formulated slow movement. And everywhere Lione also shows that he comes from the land of song!
