Lucilin, the Luxembourg based ensemble for contemporary music has announced that in 2017 it reached 16.000 visitors through 42 performances (16 in Luxembourg, 26 abroad). 22 concerts were sold out.
In 2018, Lucilin is scheduled for another 40 concerts, among them performances at Hamburg’s iconic Elbphilharmonie, at the Quincenna Musicale in San Sebastian, at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and in the new hall La Scala in Paris.
At the same time, the ensemble does not withhold criticism towards the responsible people of the cultural sector in Luxembourg. Lucilin criticises that 3000 square meters of cultural spaces are about to disappear (Carré Hollerich, Bananefabrik, Hariko…), and no alternatives are offered to allow and enhance the dialogue and common initiatives of the various musical actors. Lucilin is asking for « places to work, to explore, to deepen actions and to invent together. So if our pillars are creation, pedagogy, new compositions, export, quality and innovation, our current concerns also include the search of new ways to make our passion known to the largest possible number of people. »
