Lucilin, Luxembourg’s foremost contemporary music ensemble, just returned from a successful tour in Japan, with concerts and a CD recording of Toshio Hosokawa’s The Raven, for Naxos. The CD will be released next year for the composer’s 60th birthday.
One concert in Tokyo, Tsuda Hall, was the occasion for the musicians from Luxemburg to let the audience discover compositions by Luxembourgish composers Marcel Reuter and Claude Lenners. The group also gave there the Japanese premiere of The Raven.
The second concert took place in Hiroshima, home town of the composer Toshio Hosokawa. In the Aster Plaza Hall, the group performed The Raven and recorded the piece with soloist Charlotte Hellekant, under the baton of Kentaro Kawase. This conductor, born in Tokyo in 1984, studied with Jun’ichi Hirokami and Myung-Whun Chung. He has been conductor of the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra since 2011.
