In the season 2018/119, the Luxembourg Philharmonic will play 24 concerts in eight foreign countries (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain Turkey).
In addition to a longer tour in Music Director Gustavo Gimeno’s home country of Spain, the season will include one stop at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris with Verdi’s Rigoletto, which simultaneously marks Gimeno’s first concert opera performance with the OPL. The ensemble will also celebrate premieres in collaboration with extraordinary talents such as pianist Yuja Wang, violinist Vilde Frang and the piano duo Katia and Marielle Labèque.
The touring program includes the OPL’s first-ever appearance at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and the already second concert at the Megaron Concert Hall in Athens.
From San Sebastian to Stuttgart, Brussels, Salzburg, and also to Istanbul: with 98 musicians from 21 different countries, the orchestra continues to expand its range and its audiences with each new season.
