Following the first online publication of music archive inventories in November 2023, the Cedom at the National Library Luxembourg has expanded this initial panel by adding the inventories of the Théodore Decker, Peter Faber, Victor Goldschmit, Alfred Kowalsky, René Mertzig and Paul Sontag collections. These can now be freely viewed on www.a-z.lu.
The archival collections of these Luxembourg composers contain a variety of documents, including musical and/or textual works in the form of sketches, manuscripts or editions; correspondence such as letters, postcards, etc.; biographical documents detailing the composer’s education, studies and professional life, such as diplomas, certificates, honorary medals, CVs, photographs and personal objects; collectors’ items such as press cuttings, concert programmes, posters, autographed or annotated documents.
The inventories are presented in the form of lists containing, among other things, the title of the work, the authors / composers / arrangers, the date of creation and the format. To view these lists, simply search a-z.lu using the keyword “Fonds”, followed by the surname of the composer in question. All the inventories can be searched using the keyword “Fonds musicaux” and by activating the “Archival collections” filter in the “Type of publication” section.
