24 young conductors from 17 countries will compete for the prizes in the Danish National Symphony Orchestra’s Malko Competition. 566 young conductors initially had applied for the competition which takes place every third year in Copenhagen.
Fabio Luis chief conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and chairman of the jury in the Malko Competition, is pleased with the high standard of this year’s participants: « Not only have we had an exceptionally wide field of applicants for this year’s competition; at the same time we are pleased with the very high standard of the candidates. »
The country list is led by the United Sates with 5 candidates and Russia (4).
