Lenka Hlávková, director of the Institute of Musicology, is among the victims of the mass shooter who killed 14 people in Prague and uninjured a lot of other individuals at the Faculty of Arts.
The Charles University has confirmed the death of Lenka Hlávková: « It is with deep regret that we announce that yesterday’s hopeful news was unfortunately not confirmed. On the basis of verified information from the family and with their permission, we announce that our colleague and director of the Institute of Musicology at the Charles University Faculty of Arts Lenka Hlávková did not survive yesterday’s attack ».
Hlávková’s research focused on the musical culture of Central Europe in the late Middle Ages, Czech sources of the 15th and the first half of the 16th century, polyphonic Mass Ordinary, polyphonic song of the 15th century and cantus fractus in Czech sources. In 2019 she was elected as a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
