For Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday, Governor Charles D. Baker has issued a proclamation declaring August 25th Leonard Bernstein Day throughout the commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Leonard Bernstein was born Louis Bernstein in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the son of Ukrainian Jewish parents Jennie and Samuel Joseph Bernstein, a hairdressing supplies wholesaler originating from Rovno.
