Der 1967 in Israel geborene Yoram Meyouhas ist ein Bratscher, der heute hauptsächlich als Komponist tätig ist. Er hat Symphonien, Ouvertüren, Konzerte und Kammermusikwerke komponiert. Zu seinen Vokalwerken gehören Liederzyklen für verschiedene Besetzungen sowie eine Oper zum Thema Holocaust.
Auf dieser CD ist er mit Werken für Flöte und Harfe vertreten. Der Komponist sagt dazu: « Ich habe es schon immer genossen, Flöte und Harfe zu hören, sowohl unabhängig als auch als Teil eines Ensembles. Als zwei wunderbare Musikerinnen, Rachel Talitman und Esti Rofé, mich baten, für sie zu komponieren, führte das zu der Musik, die auf diesem Album zu hören ist… »
Die Sonate für Flöte und Harfe hat vier Sätze und ist sehr angenehm, manchmal etwas virtuos, oft sehr lyrisch und pastoral.
Three Psalms basiert auf den Psalmen 130, Aus der Tiefe rufe ich zu dir, Herr; 100: Jauchzet dem Herrn; 113: Lobet den Herrn. Das zunächst für Mezzosopran und Harfe geschriebene Werk ist ausdrucksvoll, angenehm melodisch und ist hier in einer sehr stimmungsvollen Interpretation zu hören.
Das Doppelkonzert beginnt und endet jeweils mit einem hauptsächlich fröhlichen und tänzerischen Rondo. Der zweite Satz ist lyrischer Natur. Das nette und äußerst charmante Werk wird reizvoll gespielt von Esti Rofe, Rachel Talitman und dem Israel Strings Ensemble.
Born in Israel in 1967, Yoram Meyouhas is a violist who is now mainly active as a composer. He has composed symphonies, overtures, concertos, and chamber works. His vocal works include various song cycles and an opera on the theme of the Holocaust.
On this CD he is represented by works for flute and harp. According to the composer, « I have always enjoyed hearing the flute and harp, both independently and as part of an ensemble. When two wonderful musicians, Rachel Talitman and Esti Rofé, asked me to compose for them, it led to the music featured on this album… »
The Sonata for Flute and Harp has four movements and is very pleasant, sometimes somewhat virtuosic, often very lyrical and pastoral.
Three Psalms is based on Psalms 130, From the depths I call to you, Lord; 100: Rejoice to the Lord; 113: Praise the Lord. Initially written for mezzo-soprano and harp, the work is expressive, pleasantly melodic and is heard here in a very atmospheric interpretation.
The double concerto begins and ends in each case with a mainly joyful and dance-like rondo. The second movement is lyrical. This nice and extremely charming work is delightfully played by Esti Rofe, Rachel Talitman and the Israel Strings Ensemble.
