Danish conductor Michael Schønwandt (*1953) has been appointed as Music Director of the Orchestre Français des Jeunes for the years 2021 and 2022.He will succeed Fabien Gabel, Music Director from 2017 to 2020.
Michael Schønwandt is the current principal conductor of the Orchestre National de Montpellier Languedoc-Roussillon. He has been Music Director of the Royal Opera in Copenhagen and the Royal Danish Orchestra (2000-2011), the Danish Radio National Orchestra (1987-2000) and the Berliner Sinfonie-Orchester (1992-98).
