Tough times for music promoters in the UK: Numerous cuts bring companies on the verge of closure. The judiciary does not seem to be able to change this. This week ist has been announced that the popular Mid Wales Opera has lost its appeal against a cut in funding from the Arts Council of Wales (ACW).
In September Mid Wales Opera hat learned that it would not been offered funding as part of ACW’s 2023 Investment Review. The decision came after 35 years of staging opera across Wales and was described by MWO at the time as a “hammer blow” for both performers and audiences.
According to a statement, this decision has no direct impact on plans for the next few months which are fully funded.
