Der 32-jährige litauische Akkordeonist Martynas Levickis beginnt seine neue CD mit einer äußerst kunstvollen Bearbeitung von Fünf Litauischen Volksliedern, die er zusammen mit dem Mikroorchestra auf eine hohe musikalische Ebene gehoben hat. Die Interpretationen sind sehr stimmungsvoll. Dann folgt eine Bearbeitung der Französischen Suite Nr. 5 bonc Johann Sebastian Bach. Wie es Levickis fertigbringt, eine französische Volksfestatmosphäre mit Bal Musette-Charakter zu inszenieren, ist phänomenal.
Interessant, weil farblich reich ist auch die Bearbeitung der Etüden von Philipp Glass. Auch das Stück Impasse des französischen Akkordeonisten Franck Angelis ist dem Minimalismus zuzurechnen. Es hat zwei wahnsinnig virtuose Sätze, die Levickis aber meisterhaft bewältigt. Seine spannungsvolle Interpretation des Andante doloroso hat schon quasi einen Hitchcock-Charakter, während das Adagio sostenuto von nachdenklichen Stimmungen lebt.
Das kurze Nostalgie du Pays von Milosz Magin beendet die CD. Es dauert zwar nur knapp zwei Minuten, ist aber durch seine nostalgische Stimmung ein starker Abgesang.
The 32-year-old Lithuanian accordionist Martynas Levickis begins his new CD with a marvelous arrangement of Five Lithuanian Folk Songs, which he has raised to a high musical level together with the Mikroorchestra. The interpretations are very atmospheric. Then follows an arrangement of Bach’s French Suite No. 5. How Levickis manages to stage a French folk festival atmosphere with bal musette character is phenomenal.
Interesting, because rich in color, is also the arrangement of the Etudes by Philipp Glass. The piece Impasse by the French accordionist Franck Angelis also belongs to minimalism. It has two insanely virtuosic movements, but Levickis handles them masterfully. His suspenseful interpretation of the Andante doloroso has a quasi-Hitchcock feel, while the Adagio sostenuto thrives on pensive moods.
The short Nostalgie du Pays by Milosz Magin closes the CD. It lasts barely two minutes, but its nostalgic mood makes it a strong swan song.
