The Japan Art Association published the names of the five new Praemium Imperiale Laureates. In the music section, the winner is the British-Japanese pianist Dame Mitsuko Uchida (*1948).
The winners of the other categories are Tadanori Yokoo (Painting), Wolfgang Laib (Sculpture), Dominique Perrault (Architecture) and Sylvie Guillem (Theatre/Film).
The artists are recognized and awarded for their achievements, for the impact they have had internationally on the arts, and for their role in enriching the global community. Each laureate receives an honorarium of 15 million yen (112.500 Euro) and a testimonial letter. A medal will be presented by Honorary Patron of the Japan Art Association Prince Hitachi in an awards ceremony held in Tokyo on October 21, 2015.
