Ten years after the death of Luciano Pavarotti, on 6 September 2007, Modena will pay homage to the great tenor with Giuseppe Verdi’s Mass of Requiem. The performance to be held on Tuesday, September 5 at the Dome of Modena, will be conducted by Stefano Ranzani.
The tenor Luciano Pavarotti was closely linked to Verdi’s Requiem since his debut under the baton of Herbert von Karajan in January 1967, at the Teatro alla Scala, on the tenth anniversary of Toscanini’s death. Among other memorable performances, the one directed by Rai by Claudio Abbado in 1970 alongside Renata Scotto, Marilyn Horne and Nikolai Ghiaurov ot the one conducted in 1987 by Riccardo Muti at Teatro alla Scala with Cheryl Studer, Dolora Zajick and Samuel Ramey.
