Die 28 Miniaturen der Musica Callada (Stille Musik) sind eines der wichtigsten Werke von Federico Mompou (1893-1987) und werden als sein musikalisches Testament angesehen. Josep Colom spielt sie nicht nur meditativ, sondern pflegt eigentlich alles, was die Musik braucht, die klangliche Reinheit, geprägt von den Glocken, die Mompou in seiner Kindheit gehört hatte, die vielen Nuancen, farbliche und dynamische, und vor allem, die Poesie, die uns eine beglückende Stunde Musik beschert, die « Musik eines schwachen Herzschlags », wie sie Mompou bezeichnete, einerseits nicht dudelmystisch, andererseits nicht kalt-asketisch. Colom findet den richtigen Mittelweg.
Inspiriert worden war Mompou zu seinem Zyklus durch Gedichte vom Karmeliter Saint-Jean de la Croix, von dem er auch ein Gedicht vertont hat, Cantar del Alma, das am Ende des Programms erklingt, sehr intimistisch und verhalten vorgetragen von Colom und Cecilia Lavilla Berganza, der Tochter von Teresa Berganza und dem Pianisten Felix Lavilla.
The 28 miniatures of Musica Callada (Silent Music) are one of the most important works by Federico Mompou (1893-1987) and are considered his musical testament. Josep Colom plays them not only meditatively, but actually cares for everything that this music needs, the tonal purity that had marked Mompou due to the bells he had heard in his childhood, the many nuances, colorful and dynamic, and above all, the poetry. This ensures a delightful hour of music, the music of a weak heartbeat, as Mompou called it, on the one hand not doodle-mystical, on the other hand not cold-ascetic. Colom finds the right balance!
Mompou was inspired to his cycle by poems of the Carmelite Saint-Jean de la Croix, from whom he set one poem to music, Cantar del Alma, which is heard at the end of the program, performed very intimately by Colom and Cecilia Lavilla Berganza, the daughter of singer Teresa Berganza and pianist Felix Lavilla.
