The Royal Theatre of La Monnaie in Brussels will reopen on September 5 after a two-year-long renovation. The opening production is Philippe Boesman’s opera Pinocchio.
Renovation works were started in 2015 and were initially to last for a few months. Due to a lot of unforeseen elements, it is only two years later that the theatre is able to reopen, after two extra-muros seasons.
La Monnaie has completely renovated the stage and adapted it to contemporary play. But not only the stage is new, in the hall there are new armchairs, new air-conditioning and low-energy light bulbs. 40 million euros have been invested.
