After Maria Agresta cancelled her Manon Lescaut in Monte-Carlo for health reasons, the company hired the currently unemployed Anna Netrebko. The company says, that Netrebko made a statement on the Ukraine war, but failed to read the second statement where she said she would never go against her motherland.
This dubious attitude should never have allowed to offer the singer a role in Monte-Carlo. Her ties to and her support for Putin have been clearly revealed. Moreover she supported the Ukrainian separatists with money. It is disgusting that Monte-Carlo Opera now clearly outsides itself by such a decision and took profit from the fact that the singer is banned in other places to engage her.
