After 83-year-old Montserrat Caballé refused to attend a court session in Barcelona due to mobility problem, the court is to send a medical examiner to the home of the opera singer in order to verify that her health problems are preventing her from attending a hearing to formally ratify the agreement she signed with the public prosecutor and the Tax Agency over fraud worth €500,000. She will then receive a suspended six-month sentence that will allow her to go in prison. Several weeks ago, Caballé’s lawyer filed a request for her to appear in court via videoconference, which was not accepted.
