Riccardo Muti

The performance at Chicago’s Symphony Center is sold out, but audiences around the globe can get a ‘free seat’ to Verdi’s 200th Birthday celebration with Riccardo Muti. Pizzicato is a partner of the Chicago Symphony for the event which will take place on the evening of Thursday, October 10, 2013 – 200 years to the day that Verdi was born.

CSO Music Director Riccardo Muti will lead the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in a performance of Verdi’s Requiem Mass. The Requiem is one of Verdi’s most striking choral works, and one that portrays all aspects of humanity. As Maestro Muti has said, « Giuseppe Verdi was a composer who in his music expressed the most essential feelings of mankind: love, hate, friendship, jealousy – everything that reflects our life, our way of being human. His music is the mirror of who we are. »
