A monument for the legendary Russian singer Galina Vishnevskaya will be erected in Moscow, following a decision by the Moscow City Duma Commission on monumental art. The monument will be built beside the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre, which the singer founded in 2002 and led until her last days. Recently her daughter, Olga Rostropovich, became the artistic director of the Centre. The monument project will be selected through an open competition, and its construction will be finished by 2016 which will mark the 90th anniversary of her birth.
