According to a decision of the Ministry of Culture, Moscow’s Pokrovsky Theater will become part of the Bolshoi Theater in 2018. The house will keep its name and continue to stage chamber operas, yet the entire staff will become part of the Bolshoi. Furthermore, it will host the Bolshoi’s youth programs. Gennady Rozhdestvensky will remain the musical director, but the Pokrovsky Theater will no longer have an own management. The house will be directed by Vladimir Urin, head of the Bolshoi Theater.
