Die Caminos del Inca bilden ein Straßennetz, das Südamerika durchzieht und Länder und Völker miteinander verbindet. Dementsprechend enthält diese CD Stücke von peruanischen, chilenischen, kolumbianischen und argentinischen Komponisten.  Die Musik, die wir zu hören bekommen, hat ihre Wurzeln in der indianischen Musik und in der europäisch-romantischen Kultur. Die oft tänzerischen, manchmal auch leicht archaischen Stücke sind gefällig, auch wenn die Musik längst nicht nur heiße Rhythmen enthält, sondern auch viele von jenen melancholisch-sensuellen Melodien, wie es sie häufig in der Musik lateinamerikanischer Komponisten gibt.

Das vom peruanischen Dirigenten Miguel Harth-Bedoya geleitete Norwegische Rundfunkorchester spielt auf hohem Niveau und mit dem richtigen Gespür für Farben und Dynamik. Sie bringen die brillante Melodik, die kraftvollen Rhythmen und die glühende Leidenschaft dieser Musik zum Ausdruck. Die CD ist einige Nuggets Inka-Gold wert.

The Caminos del Inca, the Inca Trail, form a road network that crosses South America, connecting countries and peoples. Accordingly, this CD contains pieces by Peruvian, Chilean, Colombian and Argentine composers.  The music we get to hear has its roots in Native American music and in European romantic culture. The often dance-like, sometimes slightly archaic compositions are pleasing, even though the music is by no means containing only hot rhythms, but also those melancholic-sensual melodies that are often found in the music of Latin American composers. The Norwegian Radio Orchestra, led by Peruvian conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya, plays at a high level and with the right sense for colors and dynamics. They bring out the brilliant melodicism, powerful rhythms and ardent passion of this music. The CD is worth a few nuggets of Inca gold.
