Conductor Myung-Whun Chung, 68, will be appointed as Honorary Music Director of the KBS Philharmonic Orchestra, according to Korean media reports. Chung stepped in for the orchestra’s Christmas Eve concert, since Music Director Pietari Inkinen was unable to enter the country because of quarantine rules.
Chung became Music Director of the KBS orchestra in January 1998, but stepped down four months later amid a dispute with the management. It wasn’t until August 2018 that he conducted the orchestra again.
