A Leicestershire opera festival, Nevill Holt Opera, who successfully staged Rigoletto and L’Elisir d’amore in June and July, has unveiled plans to build a permanent 400-seat home in the grounds of the Nevill Holt country mansion.
It is foreseen to convert a 17th century stable block into a fully equipped theatre, complete with an orchestra pit and spacious backstage facilities. The theatre will be funded by multi-millionaire entrepreneur David Ross and is to replace a temporary structure which is obsolete.
