The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra (Massachusetts) has announced Yaniv Dinur as its new music director. Dinur succeeds David MacKenzie, who retired at the end of the 2015-16 season after 10 years.
Yaniv Dinur was born in Jerusalem in 1981. Currently he is the Assistant Conductor of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. He is a winner of numerous conducting awards, among them the 2016 Solti Foundation U.S. Career Assistance Award, Special Prize at the 2009 Mata International Conducting Competition in Mexico, and the Yuri Ahronovitch 1st Prize in the 2005 Aviv Conducting Competitions in Israel. He is a recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and the Zubin Mehta Scholarship Endowment.
