Rohen Fisch muss man marinieren oder räuchern. Tosti-Lieder auch. Und genau das tut Franco Vassallo nicht. Er singt sie roh, mit kräftiger Stimme, majestätisch wird sie gar völlig zurecht im Pressetext genannt. Und genau diese majestätische Stimme will mir in den Tosti-Liedern aber auch gar nicht gefallen. Sie beraubt die wunderbaren Lieder ihres Charmes, ihrer Poesie, ihrer Schönheit. Roher Fisch, nicht mariniert, nicht geräuchert.
Raw fish must be marinated or smoked. Tosti songs, too. And that is exactly what Franco Vassallo does not do. He sings them raw, with a powerful voice, majestic it is even called and quite rightly in the press text. And it is exactly this majestic voice that I don’t like at all in the Tosti songs. It robs the wonderful songs of their charm, their poetry, their beauty. Raw fish, not marinated, not smoked.
