Spanish conductor Noemí Pasquina won First Prize at this year’s Bucharest Conducting Competition, Jury chair John Axelrod said.
The Brit Dominic Grier came second and South-Korean Jaehyuck Choi third.
Trained as a cellist Noemi Pasquina was admitted and awarded a scholarship to the Orchestral Academy of the Residentie Orkest.
After 10 years of experience playing in different Catalan orchestras, during which she fell in love with orchestra conducting, she trained as a conductor at the Op.23 Academy. She has also been assistant conductor of the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès within the training framework of the JOSV Academy and under the tutelage of Xavier Puig.
She is currently assistant conductor of the Jove Orquestra d’Extremadura.
