Despite an increased box office revenue, Opera Australia has announced a consolidated deficit of $918,059, and an operating loss of $2 million for 2014, down from $2.4 million in 2013. A total of 882 performances were attended by over 650,000 people in 2014, generating $15,8 million more in ticket sales than 2013 – $67.4 million compared to $51.6 million in 2013. Federal and state funding in 2014 was up to $24,948,334, while individual contributions went down to just $7.8 million compared to $12.7 million in 2013.
