Der Jahrmarkt von Soroschintsy ist eines der unvollendeten Werke von Modest Mussorgsky. Es handelt sich um eine komische Oper nach der Erzählung Der Soroschintsker Jahrmarkt aus dem ersten Teil von Nikolai Gogols Sammlung ‘Abende auf dem Weiler bei Dikanka’. Es ist eine phantastische Geschichte voller skurriler Figuren und Ereignisse.
Nach Mussorgskys Tod gab es mehrere Versuche, die Oper zu vervollständigen. Eine davon stammt von Fabrice Bollon. Es ist Kammerorchesterfassung, die im Gegensatz zu anderen Fertigstellungen ausschließlich Originalmusik von Mussorgsky verwendet. So wird daraus eine richtige Kammeroper, deren Charme und originelle Farben von Bollons Ensemble Lily’s Project mit viel Raffinement zum Ausdruck kommen. Die Solisten überzeugen mit durchwegs guten Leistungen.
Salammbô, war Mussorgskys erster Opernversuch. Fabrice Bollon hat aus dieser Musik eine etwa zwanzig Minuten lange Suite gezogen, die in der Besetzung für Kammerorchester hinreißend klingt.
The Soroshintsy Fair is one of the unfinished works of Modest Mussorgsky. It is a comic opera based on the story « The Soroshintsky Fair » from the first part of Nikolai Gogol’s collection « Evenings in the Hamlet of Dikanka ». It is a fantastic story full of bizarre characters and events.
After Mussorgsky’s death, there were several attempts to complete the opera. One of them was by Fabrice Bollon. It is a chamber orchestra version which, unlike other completions, uses only Mussorgsky’s original music. Bollon’s ensemble, Lily’s Project, brings out the charm and original colors of this chamber opera. The soloists convince with consistently good performances.
Salammbô was Mussorgsky’s first attempt at opera. Fabrice Bollon has turned it into a twenty-minute suite that sounds enchanting in a chamber orchestra setting.
