Today the Fondazione per l’Orchestra della Svizzera italiana (FOSI) and the Swiss Radio Corporation SSR have reached an agreement for a new contract of collaboration, a press release says. The new agreement will start in 2018 and be valid for at least 6 years.
With the new contract the SSR / RSI becomes the principal external buyer of orchestral performances, while the orchestra’s foundation acquires full autonomy in the management of her own activities.
From 2018 on, instead of funding the orchestra with 3 million CHF per year, SSR/ RSI will purchase performances for 2 million, besides the reimbursement of the rights of performers.
The new contract will be sustainable in in so far as additional funding already discussed with several partners will be will be concretized. The press release says, the City of Lugano is willing to increase its contribution by CHF 150.000, provided the same additional figure can come from other communities of the Lugano region, as well as additional private sponsorship.
