The Opera of Tours, France, is threatened with closure, according to the musicians of the Orchestre Symphonique région Centre-Val de Loire/Tours. They organized a demonstration this weekend.

For the past two years, they have been campaigning for their precarious contract to be converted into a permanent contract. « Tours City Council had pledged to defend a permanent, full-time orchestra, but is now backtracking, » the musicians say.

To break the deadlock, the musicians of the Tours orchestra worked on a project for a national orchestra. They ask the mayor of Tours to arrange a meeting with the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati.
