At the Art Genève 2025 exhibition, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande presented the first mobile virtual reality application for the general public, allowing users to immerse themselves in the heart of a symphony orchestra. Developed by the Swiss company Cybel’Art, Virtual Hall® offers a completely new experience that takes music distribution to a new level.
Using footage of the orchestra in Victoria Hall captured by six cameras and studio-quality audio recording technology, the application allows audiences to enjoy the experience from six different 360-degree viewpoints.
For example, it is possible to switch between a close-up view of the conductor from the string section and a wide-angle view from the back row among the percussionists. According to Cybel’Art founder Pierluigi Chr. Orunesu, « this is the first time that such a device has been implemented with multiple cameras, which poses a considerable challenge in terms of synchronization and processing the immense amount of data involved ».
The application will be available on the Meta Store from March 10, 2025, and soon on the Apple Store and Pico Store, compatible with a virtual reality headset.
