The year 2023 marks the birth of a new collective artistic direction for French Orchestre Ostinato. Pianist and conductor François Heisser, conductor Chloé Dufresne, conductor Julien Leroy, cellist Anne Gastinel and violinist Pierre Fouchenneret are now at the helm.
Founded in 1997 under the impetus of Manuel Rosenthal, the Orchestre-atelier Ostinato – which became the Orchestre Ostinato in 2023 – supports the emergence of young talent through professional integration, and provides its 80 instrumentalists aged 18 to 25 with paid training in the profession of orchestral musician. During the course, they are supervised by Jan Orawiec, concertmaster of Les Siècles, who is their pedagogical supervisor.
Ostinato gives between 20 and 30 concerts a year in prestigious venues such as the Philharmonie de Paris, the Théâtre de l’Athénée and the Théâtre du Châtelet. It is developing artistic partnerships, notably with the Académie de l’Opéra national de Paris. Every year, its students join the phalanges of renowned national and international orchestras such as the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre de Paris, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin and the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, to name but a few.
