Allen Protesten zum Trotz hat der Rundfunkrat des Bayerischen Rundfunks (BR) beschlossen, ab 2018 den Klassiksender ‘BR-Klassik’ aus dem UKW-Bereich zu entfernen, zugunsten des Jugendprogramms ‘Puls’. ‘BR-Klassik’ wird dann nur noch über Digitalradio (DAB+), Kabel, Satellit und Internet zu empfangen sein. Wegen anhaltender Kritik hatte der BR das Projekt von 2016 um zwei Jahre auf 2018 verschoben.

HGO is a global leader in the creation of new work, having commissioned 54 world premieres and seven American premieres since 1973.

Arts Council England’s funding for the English National Opera will be reduced from £17m to £12m. Since public funding is for about 48 percent in the budget, the loss of money is particularly heavy. ENO’s management looks now for possibilities to save money and to increase other income sources in order to guarantee programming and quality.

Der Höhepunkt seines Luxemburg-Aufenthaltes war sein letzter öffentlicher Auftritt am 19. Juli im Luxemburger Bürger-Casino, dort, wo sich heute das ‘Casino-Forum d’art contemporain’ befindet, das seit Jahren am 19. Juli ein Gedenkkonzert veranstaltet. With an annual compensation of $2,165,460 Riccardo Miti was the best paid Music Director in the United States in 2011/12. This is shown by the list published by Adapistration. Second was Michael Tilson Thomas at San Francisco Symphony (2,030,468), followed by Christoph Eschenbach (National Symphony, $1,935,013). In comparison, Gustavo Dudamel is earning much less in Los Angeles ($1,425,088). Albert Gilbert (New York Philharmonic) was paid $1,341,994 and Franz Welser Möst, Music Director of the Cleveland Symphony $1,181,241. The last on the list is Bruno Ferrandis (Santa Rosa Symphony) with only $101,860. The average for all the orchestras was $517,649.

In einer Stellungnahme fordert der sich im Streik befindliche Rundfunkchor Berlin das Land Berlin und den Bund auf, dem ausverhandelten, unterschriftsreifen Tarifvertrag endlich zuzustimmen. Anna Netrebko, ex-wife of baritone Erwin Schrott, and Azerbaijani tenor Yusif Eyvazov (37) have announced their engagement. The couple met and began dating in March 2014 when they appeared together in a production of Puccini’s Manon Lescaut at the Rome Opera House. A date for the wedding has not been set.

Die Oper Leipzig zählte in der Saison 2013/14 rund 168.000 Eintritte. Die Gesamtauslastung betrug 70 Prozent, nach der Steigerungsrate von 6 Prozent in der Saison 2012/13 wiederum 1,5 Prozent mehr. Die Semperoper Dresden hat die Auslastung im Kalenderjahr 2013 um 1,2 Prozent auf 91,9 Prozent im Vergleich zum Vorjahr gesteigert. Die Gesamteintrittszahl belief sich in der Saison 2013/14 auf 308.351.

Japanese American violinist Midori (42) had to cancel several concerts, including those with the New York Philharmonic and Aspen Festival Orchestra, because she is pregnant. A representative for Midori confirmed the musician’s pregnancy, saying that she is in her first trimester.
