Slovak conductor Juraj Valcuha, 47, has extended his contract as Music Director of the Houston Symphony and will remain with the orchestra through the 2025-2026 season. He began his tenure as Music Director in 2022. He is also the Music Director of the Teatro di San Carlo and first guest conductor of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. He was chief conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI from 2009 to 2016.

The Menuhin School in Cobham, UK, announced clarinetist Julian Bliss as Artist in Residence, and composer Sally Beamish as Composer in Residence for the 2023/24 academic year.
