Created in 2004 by Emmanuel Krivine, the ‘Chambre Philharmonique’ celebrates this year its 10th anniversary. On this occasion, a tour dedicated to Hector Berlioz will lead the Orchestra trough France an England. The program comprises three works, the overture for Béatrice et Bénédict, Les Nuits d’été with mezzo-soprano Michèle Losier and ‘Symphonie Fantastique’, all played on period instruments and a pitch of 440 Hz.

Das Philharmonische Orchester Luxemburg (OPL) beendet heute eine Tournee mit 4 Konzerten in Moskau und Sankt-Petersburg. OPL-Chefdirigent Emmanuel Krivine konnte krankheitsbedingt nicht mit seinem Orchester nach Russland reisen. Ein Ersatz wurde in der Person des russischen Dirigenten Vassily Sinaisky gefunden, der das OPL in der Vergangenheit bereits öfters dirigiert hat und seit seiner Demission als Chef des Bolschoi-Theaters in der zu Ende gehenden Saison quasi arbeitslos ist. Für ihn war die Krankheit Krivines ein Segen. Vielleicht denkt man ja sogar noch an ihn als Nachfolger Krivines in 2015. The International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) organized their Award Ceremony and Gala Concert yesterday at the Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw, hosted by the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival. The Award Ceremony was presented by ICMA’s President Remy Franck, and awards were given to such artists as Charles Dutoit, Krzysztof Penderecki, Andreas Staier, Adrien Boisseau, Joseph Moog, Andrea Bacchetti, Daniel Hope, Holger Schröter-Seebeck and Signum Quartet. Before even having taken up his job, Alexander Pereira, the designated General Manager of Milan’s La Scala, has risen a discussion when news from Austria revealed that he, as Salzburg Festival’s current director, was selling seven of its productions to his new Milan opera house (Pizzicato.lu/pereira-verkauft-sich-was). In the meantime Pereira told journalists that he only choose the best productions and that Salzburg’s price was really good. Nevertheless the feeling remains that Pereira was not very clever in proposing this deal, especially as it helps Salzburg’s finances to getting back in the surplus region.

Almost four years after Henryk Górecki’s death, his Symphony No.4 (Tansman Episodes) received its premiere yesterday by the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Andrey Boreyko at the Royal Festival Hall. Performances by co-commissioners the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Zaterdag Matinee series at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam follow in the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons respectively. Read More →

SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden Baden und Freiburg

There is a new positive evolution in the affair of the merger of both of the SWR Symphony orchestras, the one from Baden-Baden and Freiburg and the one from Stuttgart. The Ministerpräsident of Baden-Württemberg, Winfried Kretschmann, personally agreed to receive the petition team on May 2. Therefore, for the friends of the orchestra, the next four weeks are the final chance to expand the petition as much as they can. Currently around 5000 people have signed.
