The French baritone Ludovic Tézier, 55, received the Premio Piero Cappuccilli rom the Cappuccilli Foundation named after the great Italian operatic baritone Piero Cappuccilli (1929-2005). Tézier is the latest singer to receive the award following Plácido Domingo in 2022 and Luca Salsi in 2021.

Slovak conductor Juraj Valcuha, 47, has extended his contract as Music Director of the Houston Symphony and will remain with the orchestra through the 2025-2026 season. He began his tenure as Music Director in 2022. He is also the Music Director of the Teatro di San Carlo and first guest conductor of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. He was chief conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI from 2009 to 2016.

The Philadelphia Musicians’ Union Local 77 voted 81-8 against the management’s final proposal. The San Francisco Symphony announced that the Board of Governors and Musicians of the Orchestra have approved and ratified a new two-year collective bargaining agreement. The new agreement will be applied retroactively from November 27, 2022, and runs through November 18, 2024. Read More →
The Menuhin School in Cobham, UK, announced clarinetist Julian Bliss as Artist in Residence, and composer Sally Beamish as Composer in Residence for the 2023/24 academic year. These newly created roles will see the musicians work with the School in a variety of guises and provide a unique opportunity for pupils to work and perform with both world-class artists, the news release says.
