Die Bundesregierung hat ein wichtiges Signal für Österreichs Kunst und Kultur gesetzt. Mit dem Bekenntnis zum Fortbestand des ORF Radio-Symphonieorchesters Wien hielt die Regierung fest, dass die angedachte Einsparung dieses Klangkörpers von internationaler Strahlkraft vom Tisch ist.

Wie sehr moderne Inszenierungen Opern verhunzen können, das konnten luxemburgische Opernfreunde vor kurzem im Grand Théâtre mit Tristan und Isolde und im letzten Jahr mit der Entführung aus dem Serail erleben. Die halbszenischen Aufführungen dagegen, die in der Philharmonie präsentiert werden, haben ganz anderen Charakter. An authenticated lock of hair from Ludwig van Beethoven known as the ‘Moscheles Lock’ was used for a DNA analysis of the composer’s health problems by the Institute of Human Genetics at the University Hospital of Bonn, Germany. The aim was to explain the causes of the German composer’s death in 1827, at the age of 56. Liver failure, or cirrhosis, was the likely cause of Beethoven’s death brought about by a number of factors, including his alcohol consumption, the scientists said. Read More →

Andrew Crust

The Vermont Symphony Orchestra (VSO) has announced the appointment of Andrew Crust for a four-year term as its fifth Music Director, effective March 2023. Crust succeeds Jaime Laredo, who stepped down from the position in 2021 after a twenty-year tenure leading the orchestra.
