Andrew Downes, former Head of School of Composition and Creative Studies at Birmingham Conservatoire from 1992 until 2005, died today at the age of 72. The planned concert by pro-Putin pianist Valentina Lisitsa at La Fenice in Venice has been cancelled after heavy protests. This was reported by Corriere della Sera in its local edition. Valentina Lisitsa is of Ukrainian origin, a known Putin worshipper and played for Russians in the bombed Mariupol.
