The International Opera Conductors’ Competition in Liège (Belgium) has announced the winners of this year’s edition. First Prize was awarded to Dayner Tafur Diaz (Peru, *1998). Dayner Tafur-Díaz studied trumpet and piano in his native country, then moved on to conducting, which he studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart from 2019. September führen das Sinfonieorchester Münster, das Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion sowie der Chor der Katholischen Universität Lublin (Polen) und Chormitglieder des Teatr Muzyczny w Lublinie gemeinsam die Symphonie Nr. 2 von Gustav Mahler im St.-Paulus-Dom in Münster auf. Münsters Generalmusikdirektor Golo Berg dirigiert die Ensembles, als Solistinnen konnten Christiane Libor (Sopran) und Stefanie Irányi (Mezzosopran) gewonnen werden. Ukraine-born conductor Valentin Uryupin has been forced to resign from the post of chief conductor of the Moscow New Opera Theater Kolobov, Russian media report. The magazine Musical Life published the text of a letter from Valentin Uryupin addressed to the theater workers, which, in particular, states: “As you probably already know, some time ago I was forced to resign for very good personal reasons.
