The Dutch Fund for Cultural Participation has decided not to subsidize the National Youth Orchestras of the Netherlands (NJON) from 2025, their association says. German mezzo-soprano Ruth Hesse died yesterday, aged 87. She made her debut in 1958 at the Theater Lübeck as Orpheus in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, and remained there until 1960. Dominique Meyer, 68, outgoing director of La Scala in Milan, will join the Orchestre de chambre de Lausanne on July 15, La Scala announced.
