Milan’s La Scala has decided to cancel ten events scheduled from now until 3 December due to the evolution of the Coronavirus epidemic. These are just some of the shows on the programme, including the four performances of Cinderella for children scheduled for November, three concerts conducted by Giovanni Antonini and two recitals with Sabine Devieilhe and Simon Keenlyside. The BBC Symphony Orchestra has announced the extension of Chief Conductor Sakari Oramo’s contract until the end of the BBC Proms season in 2023. The 54-year-old Finnish conductor is in this position since 2013, when he took over from Jiri Belohlavek. He is also Chief Conductor and Artistic Advisor: of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and Honorary Conductor of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic has announced the cancelation of all scheduled concerts at the Walt Disney Concert Hall until June 2021. Other major U.S. organizations to cancel their season include the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Philharmonic and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
The Friday Foundation has awarded the Seattle Symphony $1.5 million to establish The Richard E. Lang and Jane Lang Davis Living Music Program, the orchestra announced: « Uniting audiences and fostering cultural exchange through an annual concert that features ambitious and innovative programming, The Richard E.
